Gerber has recently recalled pouches of baby food because they may be contaminated with mold. According to the company, an issue with the packaging of the products allows for the contents to go bad while shipping them.
The specific items being recalled are the Organic 2nd Foods Pears, Carrots & Peas that expire July 12-13 of 2016 and also the Organic 2nd Foods Carrots, Apples & Mangoes that expire July 13-14 of 2016.
If the food in the pouches looks bloated or smells bad, do not eat it. Instead call the company at 800-706-0556 for more information and coupons. Gerber has released an apology and is working to get back all of the spoiled product.
This is similar to the recall of GoGo Squeez, which happened last month. Inspection agents found residue in the GoGo Squeez factory that led them to believe that mold contamination was possible in the product line.
Gerber was purchased by Nestle in 2007 and is still under their ownership and direction. If you ever purchase a product that you believe to have mold always call the company and never eat the item. Moldy food can spread mold to your home as well as causing the same symptoms as mold growing in your house.
