What Is Mold?

Molds are fungi that are found indoors, and they prefer warm, damp conditions where they can produce spores to spread.  These spores can survive for long and harsh periods of dry conditions to begin growth again.  The most common molds are Cladosporium, Penicillium, and Aspergillus.  What you need to know is that mold is common in homes.  Chances are, you have it in your home, but you don’t notice it.

Where Mold Lives

Molds are found indoors all year.  Growth is aided by humid and warm conditions where humidity is high such as basements and showers.  This is why it is important to run dehumidifiers in basements and have proper ventilation in bathrooms.
